Welded Sculpture

Using a process of "welded collage," Max repurposed familiar household and industrial items into intricate relief sculptures. Look closely to find kitchen gadgets, sewing machine parts, and tools hidden within the structural rhythm of the work. The matte, monochromatic powder-coat finish unifies these disparate parts, shifting the focus to form and negative space. Designed for wall mounting, many of these sculptures interact dynamically with light; side or overhead lighting creates a shifting interplay of shadows that doubles the visual complexity of the pieces.
